Rauceby Buys an Instrument for New Orleans Musician

Rauceby villagers and visitors raised more than £300 for the NOrMAL Appeal at a music quiz night in the village hall last Saturday. Numbers attending represented one in 20 of the village population. Organiser Jonathan Hoare says: “It was a tremendous fundraising effort and if we'd had more people there we could have really made a difference. As it is, that money represents one instrument for one musician, so we're making progress.”

NOrMAL Appeal, set up in Lincolnshire to raise funds for New Orleans professional musicians, has a big event under way for December 4th: Let the Good Times Roll. Three bands containing some of the country's finest New Orleans style musicians will play at the Lincoln Drill Hall on Sunday afternoon in aid of the appeal. Tickets are available from the box office at 01522 873894.

The next step for the aid effort is a series of concerts for Mardi Gras and venues across the county and beyond have been approached to stage a Mardi Gras carnival in February next year.
